Driven

I recently penned the following for our North Star Church net news. I thought I would re-post them here in hopes that it might cause readers to pause, listen and respond. Holy Spirit speak and give us ears to hear.

“Driven – in our world it is a word that is used to describe a person who is focused on the pursuit of a goal and who gives max effort to achieve it. We’ve read articles about business people who are driven to succeed. We’ve seen the interview programs that talk about athletes who are driven to be the best at their sport or position. We’ve personally engaged with someone who is driven to accomplish something in their community whether is deals with public safety or improvements in the school system. You might be one of these people – Driven.

Yes to answer the question in your brain – is this topic pertinent to North Star Church? If you think of all the organizations, governments, and collectives who utilize human talent, who among them is tasked with announcing God’s salvation to all the world? Only the church AND we should be driven to see this come to fruition. People who are driven by God for this purpose are committed to a local congregation giving of their time, their talent, and their treasure. I pray daily that this describes us as individuals and as a church because the work of God is just that important. The work I am talking about takes each of us praying for those who are in our neighborhoods searching for a God who cares about them. It takes being aware of the Holy Spirit nudging us to share our story with a new acquaintance or friend. It takes each of us driven by a passion for those who have lost their purpose and direction as a creation of God. In other words, it takes us being active in the world around us.”

May the invitation of God to share the Good News of redeeming grace overwhelm your everyday, walking around life. May the Spirit of God compel you to be infectious sharing with everyone His love and mercy.
